The 53rd International Symposium on High Performance Liquid Phase Separations and Related Techniques (HPLC 2024 Dalian), held in Dalian, China from October 21 to 23, 2024, brought together leading scientists and experts in chromatography from across the globe.
Welch Materials, as a Gold Sponsor for the Symposium, played a pivotal role in supporting the event, contributing through workshops, academic presentations, and by offering travel grants for young scholars, demonstrating its deep commitment to advancing liquid chromatography technologies and supporting the scientific community.
Widely recognized as one of the top international conferences in the field, HPLC 2024 Dalian returned to China for the second time, offering a platform for discussions around the latest trends in separation science.
The event’s program covered key topics ranging from liquid and supercritical fluid chromatography to innovative detection techniques like mass spectrometry. Participants engaged with both theoretical advancements and practical applications spanning proteomics, metabolomics, disease diagnostics, etc., reflecting the broad impact of chromatography on modern science.
Welch Materials seized the opportunity to share its latest innovations and insights. Dr. Luo Chuping, General Manager of Welch Materials, kicked off the event with a pre-conference workshop titled "Unlocking Superior Separation with Inert Hardware" on October 20.
His presentation tackled the challenges associated with stainless-steel hardware in HPLC systems, exploring how such hardware can negatively influence separation performance. He also led discussions on system maintenance and the conditions that call for inert columns, providing practical guidance for chromatography practitioners.
The Symposium was a hub for academic exchange, featuring 100 leading chromatography experts from over 20 countries (including US, Germany, UK, Russia, Japan, and South Korea) who delivered over 120 presentations, including keynote lectures, invited talks, and discussions on cutting-edge research.
Mr. Ren Xingfa, Vice General Manager of Welch Materials, delivered a presentation on the development and performance evaluation of novel size exclusion columns for biomolecular analysis. His talk emphasized the performance advantages of these new columns in large biomolecule separation.
In addition to academic exchange, HPLC 2024 Dalian served as a platform for the exhibition of new instruments and technologies. Over 30 companies showcased their latest advancements, including Welch Materials' Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) columns, size exclusion columns, and preparative liquid chromatography instruments.
Welch Materials also demonstrated its commitment to fostering the next generation of chromatography experts. The Youth Travel Grant, sponsored by Welch, was awarded to four talented young Chinese scientists from US, Netherlands, Belgium, and Hong Kong to financially support their travel. Dr. Luo Chuping presented the awards, recognizing the emerging scholars’ potential and encouraging them to continue driving advancements in the field.
HPLC 2024 Dalian proved to be a landmark event for chromatography, offering a dynamic mix of academic exchange, technological innovation, and networking opportunities. Welch Materials’ active involvement in the Symposium further solidified its position as a key player in the chromatography world, and its support for young scientists reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the future of the industry.
As the field of liquid chromatography continues to evolve, Welch Materials remains poised to lead the way with its cutting-edge solutions and unwavering dedication to scientific progress.
